A Message for One Year on Substack
A year ago today, I decided to post my first article here on Substack. I had no idea how important hitting send on that article would be for me. At the time, I was not in the best place in my life after dealing with so much personal stuff and feeling lost in what I wanted. Being a film student, i had lost that passion I once had making films and didn’t know what I wanted to do. I had just uploaded an essay video on YouTube about the greatest film of this century “The Cat in the Hat” (lol) and had recently discovered what Substack was. I felt that it wouldn't hurt to give it a shot and would write a small post for the YouTube video I just made. After posting, I realized maybe I could talk about others films every week and it could be something I do for a bit. Today I sit here one year ago later typing this article and I couldn’t be happier with the progress this blog has made and also where I am mentally in life.
It’s truly been a honor being able to post on here and talking to the many fantastic people that I’ve gotten to interact with on here. From the collaborations I’ve been involved in to overall getting to interact with the Filmstack community, it has been great to experience. I want to say thank you to everyone that has ever taken the time to read something that I’ve written as well as liked, restacked, shared, and overall supported me. You have changed my life and writing is something that I can say for the first time in a long time I am passionate about and want to continue doing.
I have so much exciting plans for the future of this blog. I have something releasing on Thursday, but next week I have big changes planned for the blog. The blog will be getting a new look to it with a new name and also a new series that will be monthly for the page. I’ll be sharing more information next week, but I hope with this new series to open the door for opportunities and making something that I hope people can find community in. I just wanted to write something small about one year on here and how much I appreciate what doing this has given me. As cliche as it may sound, this really is only the beginning for this blog and I’m excited for what the future holds. Thank you all once again and of course, I’ll see you at the movies.

Congratulations, Caleb! I look forward to all of the great posts you're going to create in year two!
I love your substack so much! Lovely piece celebrating a great year :)
